Ancient Arcana Enhancements are determined by the number of “charges” an item accumulates. These charges tend to be connected to various colors:

  • Blue >> Healing >> Rapha
  • Green >> Water >> Mayim
  • Orange >> Fire >> Aysh
  • Pink >> Heaven >> Shamayim
  • Red >> Might >> Geburah
  • Violet >> Possession >> Yaresh
  • White >> Light >> Aur
  • Yellow >> Eternity >> Olam

For all colors but red, the relationship between the number of charges and the power of the enhancement is unclear. Red charges follow the progression below:

  • 1 Red Charge >> +1 enhancement
  • 2 Red Charges >> +2 enhancement
  • 3 Red Charges >> +3 enhancement
  • 5 Red Charges >> +4 enhancement
  • 10 Red Charges >> +5 enhancement
  • 15 Red Charges >> +6 enhancement
  • 20 Red Charges >> +7 enhancement
  • 30 Red Charges >> +8 enhancement
  • 40 Red Charges >> +9 enhancement
  • 55 Red Charges >> +10 enhancement

The party has encountered two artifacts that have allowed them to imbue items with ancient arcana enhancements. Only items with a “memory” can be imbued, but it is unclear what constitutes a memory. These artifacts contain a number of slots that can hold very specific one inch crystals. When these slots are filled with the appropriate crystals and an item placed on the pedestal, the item will receive an ancient arcana enhancement if he has an appropriate memory. The exact crystal combination determines the number of colored charges applied to an item.

Pedestal I (slots for three one inch crystals)

  1. Imbued the item with 2 charges of this color
  2. Imbued the item with 1 charge of this color
  3. Had no apparent affect

Pedestal II (slots for four one inch crystals)

  1. Imbued the item with 3 charges of this color
  2. Imbued the item with 2 charges of this color
  3. Imbued the item with 1 charge of this color
  4. Had no apparent affect unless the item had accumulated 10 or more red charges. In that case this seemed to influence an ancient arcana property.

Pedestal III (slots for five one inch crystals)

  1. Imbued the item with 4 charges of this color
  2. Imbued the item with 3 charges of this color
  3. Imbued the item with 2 charges of this color
  4. Imbued the item with 1 charge of this color
  5. Had no apparent affect unless the item had accumulated 10 or more red charges. In that case this seemed to influence an ancient arcana property.

An item must receive the ancient enchantments in the correct order for the item to be imbued. For example, if an item does not have Ancient I it cannot receive Ancient II.
